Visiting old friends

who are here

still above ground

I remember those

having passed on,

grandparents and father,

thinking everyone has

experienced a loss

of someone dear

or will eventually

through human condition,

our ancestral lineage

bore same knowledge,

aging, transience, death,

and with recognition

lived, loved, laughed

more fully, deeper,

honoring deceased often

as 'memorial day'.
