Sometime during lull

seemingly stagnate water

on slow river

starts subtle acceleration,

and sounds increase,

currents over rocks

rushing from descent

into unknown rapids,

whirlpool, or waterfall,

there's heightened anticipation,

tensing of muscles

sharpening the senses

to respond calmly

without panic attack

while navigating easily,

effortlessly, with grace,

when territory shifts

entering new world

as it begins.
