This word sticks in craw

as does 'can't', and 'incapable',

though hard to swallow now

I'll become familiar with it

as I age, losing willingness

to adapt or recreate myself

for societal reward of money,

prestige, security in all forms,

while denying my 'soul intention'

through this life's last stages,

where 'ego' thinks it's helping

when encouraging stretch beyond means

whispering promises of power, adulation,

even 'enlightened expanse' at end

once hellish endeavor is complete,

yet at costs in health,

wholeness, joy, inner peace, love,

all I dream, deem essential,

living extraordinary existence, until unable.
